Why arm chair analyst and not arm chair general? Because I'm a generalist in my interest and I'd have to admit like a lot of arm chair experts I've not been at the coal face so to speak so will own up to the fact on occasion I'll spout off without knowing all the facts & truly understanding the situation. Plus a lot of times when commenting one has the advantage of hindsight and a lot less pressure.
Yes I am interested in war studies, and in general history, I'm less inclined than I once was just to look at the shinny toys. They're important but far from the whole story. I like science & technology but stick to the New Scientist mostly to keep me informed. Great fan of the libraries and books in general. Known to occasionally get lost in a 2nd hand bookshop or charity store, would say doing my bit for the environment.... But maybe it's the thrill of the chase and making my pennies go that little bit further.
Passionate about things, still prone to asking imponderable questions and being a big kid, but keep that to your selves...
I've been described as ecliptic in my interests, but theirs no point in listing them again, accept to say some carry more weight than others. I've been told I'm left wing in my politics though not into party politics, and never really pondered my place on the spectrum.
I'm not sure how frequently I'll be on, look at other peoples pages, old fashioned but I figure if its really important I know something send me a heads up email.... I certainly want to avoid the whole I had X, Y, Z for my dinner, but then I know people who are so busy with live journal it seems there life almost revolves around there on line existence. Any way that would be a good point to stop before I further demonstrate my legendary prowess as a mining engineer and hole digger extrodenaire....
